The night taxi vouchers for women from the City of Munich are now also available in all Munich public libraries, including the Open Library branches in the Gasteig HP8 and Gasteig Motorama. By acting as distribution points for the vouchers, which are in effect a safe travel subsidy by the City of Munich, the Munich Public Library is supporting the city’s goal of helping women to make their way home safely at night. The offer is open to all women aged 16 and over, including trans*, diverse and non-binary women, who can use the vouchers to travel home safely after a night out – whether from the Gasteig or anywhere else within Munich.   The system is quite simple: Collect your vouchers at the information desk in any of Munich’s public libraries (except the law library in the city hall). When you pay for a taxi ride between 10 PM and 6 AM, hand the voucher to the driver to reduce your fare by ten euros.  Opening hours of the public libraries in the Gasteig

“We are delighted to be able to help women return home safely this way. This is perfectly in line with our project of gradually extending the public libraries’ opening hours as part of our Open Library concept. It means that women can also get home safely after a long evening in the library.”

Arne Ackermann, Director of the Munich Public Library
