Information about the festival
The LAFITA Latin American Film Festival offers new insights into a world that is both culturally and ecologically diverse. Feature films, documentaries and shorts open up a window to the Latin America of today and trace the subcontinent’s historical contexts.
This year, our journey takes us to Chile, where a momentous military coup took place exactly 50 years ago. We stop off in Uruguay and Argentina, where young people are redefining their place in society. We take an excursion into the Colombian jungle to examine the fluid identities of our time. We’re off to Brazil and an unconventional telling of a drama in a favela. And we ascent to Ecuador’s highlands and the international contest over mining rights playing out there.
The Latin American Film Festival will open on 29 November at the Luise arts centre.
