Sarah Reema Müller-Westernhagen was born near Shepherds Bush in London and is the daughter of actor Polly Eltes and musician Marius Müller-Westernhagen. Growing up with her mother, Reema came into contact with well-known musicians and creatives at an early age. This creative environment prompted her to start writing and performing her own music at the early age of seven. Aged 17, she founded the post-punk band Battlekat. While based in Hamburg and Berlin, she released two albums on a major label between 2011 and 2014 with her band Mimi and the Mad Noise Factory.

Having since returned to her geographic roots – she now lives in England again – she is revisiting her musical roots with the Reema project: writing and performing emotional, poetic songs that deal frankly with a life and career that has been anything but straightforward. Together with bass clarinettist, arranger and producer Stefan Baumann, she produced and released the EPs Lioness (2020) and Rooftops & Riversides (2022). Baumann’s expert arrangements underscore the emotionality of Reema’s songs, lending her music an extraordinary depth and richness of sound.

In this concert, Reema presents her music in an unusual chamber music setting together with a mixed wind ensemble that includes musicians from the Bavarian State Youth Jazz Orchestra.

  • Reema, vocals & guitar
  • Stefan Baumann, bass clarinet & arrangements
  • Luna Burkert, flute
  • Pascale Feiertag, alto saxophone
  • Marie Kuhar, trombone
  • Valentina Oefele, baritone saxophone

The evening opens with a set by singer-songwriter Sarah Pedros, a newcomer from the ranks of Stephanie Pedros Management who is celebrating her stage debut, presenting her sensitively emotional pop songs for the first time.
