South America’s national children’s and youth orchestras enable young people to participate in education, social development and culture. One of these is Neojiba, which was founded in 2007. Its mission: to help young people acquire essential tools to develop their skills and their personality through joint rehearsals and performances. The result speaks for itself: Neojiba has demonstrated its excellence on seven tours to date and in more than 300 concerts worldwide. It was also the first Brazilian youth orchestra to perform in Europe. Its founder and director Ricardo Castro was awarded the title of Honorary Member of the Royal Philharmonic Society for his work.

At their guest appearance in Munich, Lucas and Arthur Jussen, two equally energetic, passionate pianists, will add their fire to the orchestra’s feisty repertoire of captivating compositions by Carlos Gomes, Osvaldo Golijov and Leonard Bernstein. On stage, the Dutch brothers are a family force, a musical symbiosis of a duo that guarantees an out-of-the-ordinary performance.

Programme

  • Carlos Gomes: Prelude from Lo schiavo
  • Osvaldo Golijov: Nazareno for piano and orchestra
  • Leonard Bernstein: Symphonic Dances from West Side Story
