The principal violist of the Munich Philharmonic, Jano Lisboa, presents two romantic gems for viola and orchestra: Max Bruch’s popular Romance and the Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Romance for viola and piano, which was only discovered after the composer’s death and which Lisboa presents here in an arrangement for viola and chamber orchestra.

Those who travel have plenty to tell. And you can also do that with music. Antonín Dvořák did so with his orchestral suite, in which he incorporated elements of American music that he encountered during his stay in the USA. Edward Elgar’s In the South (Alassio) was inspired by the landscape, language and culture he encountered in Liguria, where he spent the winter of 1904 to escape the cold, wet English weather.
