The “culture island” outside the Gasteig HP8 now sports a brand-new chessboard. To inaugurate this attraction, we will hold a celebrity chess tournament with Jana Schneider, Svenja Butenandt and Helmut Pfleger.
Jana Schneider, German national player and gold medallist at the 2022 Chess Olympiad, will play against Svenja Butenandt, German junior national player and FIDE champion from FC Bayern. The match will be commentated live by international chess grandmaster and television presenter Helmut Pfleger. During the break and after the match, players and commentator will be available to answer your questions, for quick rounds of chess and a chat.
The floor chessboard and pieces will then remain permanently at the Kulturinsel for all to use.
First game: 3.15 PM
Second game: 4.30 PM
The event ends at approx. 7.30 PM. Times my change slightly depending on thinking times.
