Die Ukraine tanzt durch Europa – Ukraine Dances Through Europe – takes us on a journey through Ukraine and its diverse culture, past and present. For the Ukrainian diaspora and war refugees living in Munich, this performance is an opportunity to experience a piece of familiarity and home.

The Ukrainians regard themselves a peaceful, happy people, full of spirit and love, and this is reflected in their songs and dances. At this concert, the Ukrainian dance group Iz Pertsem (the name means “with a pinch of pepper”), together with other Ukrainian musicians and singers, will introduce the audience to the nation’s character.

Programme

  • Dance group Iz Pertsem was established in 2010 and has won international competitions, including the World Dance Contest 2024, and performs together with singers and musicians at festivals and events throughout Europe.
  • Hanna Karamavrova (soprano), singer and prizewinner of international competitions
  • Petro Morozov (baritone), opera singer on stages around the world
  • Kseniia Malytska, folklore singer, member of the dance group Iz Pertsem
  • Family duo Leonid Ostrovskyy (accordion) and Nataliia Ostrovska (spoons), prizewinners of international and Ukrainian competitions and festivals
  • UkrBand, founded by a group of professional musicians in Munich. The band unites different styles, including classical, pop, rock and folk in its performances and has already appeared on stages throughout Bavaria. Its members are: Ihor Barynin (violin), Ivan Panasiuk (bandura), Mikhail Leonchik (dulcimer), Volodymyr Trykolenko (balalaika & double bass), Yevhen Gavryliuk (accordion).
